so a fated hero walks into a bar...

It's been kind of a long day. Even with Mjolnir giving her a boost, Darcy definitely feels like she just got her ass politely kicked by a warrior goddess.

So when she opens the door on Milliways instead of her living room, she brightens right up.

"Hello, favourite bar! I love you, favourite bar," she proclaims, and takes long Sif-like strides all the way to Bar to grab herself some hot chocolate and an ice pack for her left shoulder.

"...Um, kind of a long story," she says. "But basically, Thor did something dumb that made Mewtwo not like him anymore and it ended up on Earth, in New Mexico, which is also where I was, and there was this huge crowd of guys trying to pick it up, and I'm the only one who could. And then Thor showed up too and he turned out to actually be pretty cool when he's not yelling or throwing things."

"Mjolnir," she corrects automatically. "Wow. Um. Wow."

Normal person unexpectedly granted god-like powers? Boy, sound like anyone she knows?"

"The best I could do when Thor first said it to me was 'Myuh-myuh', so you can see where I got 'Mewtwo'."

She chuckles a little.

"Uh, yeah, I can see where you got it."

[sailorheavymetal]

Darcy shrugs and pats the hammer. "Mewtwo doesn't mind."

[nita_callahan]

"Well, if it's sure, I can hardly judge."

[sailorheavymetal]

"I may be anthropomorphizing a little too hard, but I could swear it thinks I'm cute."

"Aww."

Well, what else can she say to that, really?

Darcy smiles fondly at her magic space hammer.

Her best friend is an inanimate object and that is totally okay.

Her smile reminds Nita a lot of Dairine.

"So now you've got it, or it's got you -- what do you do with it?"

"Um, hero training?" she says, like she's not completely sure.

[nita_callahan]

She raises her eyebrows.

"Sounds fun?"

Maybe?

"Fun isn't the first word I'd use," she says wryly. "But I'm definitely learning a lot."

[nita_callahan]

"Yeah," rueful, "I'll bet."

She props her chin on her hand. "It's cool that you actually get trained. The last guy I knew who got chosen by an ancient mystical weapon was just kind of thrown into the deep end."

"I did my time in the deep end, believe me," she says. "Now I get the training."

[nita_callahan]

"Better late than never."

Although she sounds more wry than anything about that.

The Powers can be real jerks about the late versus never thing.

"Hey, I kicked the giant fire-breathing robot's ass," she says with a shrug. "It's cool."

". . . Do tell."

"...Um, so Thor," she says. "Pissed off more people than just Mewtwo, it turns out. One of 'em sent a giant fire-breathing robot to Earth to kill him, and it was wrecking everything in sight, and he was kind of lacking in the magic hammer department, so I had to step up."

[nita_callahan]

Nita blinks.

"That sounds, um, not fun."

[sailorheavymetal]

"You are very right about that," says Darcy. "So, so right."

[nita_callahan]

"Everyone get out okay?"

[sailorheavymetal]

"Yep!"

[nita_callahan]

"Good." She quirks a smile. "That's the important part."

[sailorheavymetal]

"Well, duh," says Darcy.
